BSc (Hons): Physics with psychology
Before training to be a counsellor, I was involved for many years in running a medium-sized family business, with all the highs and lows that brings. I have always been interested in family issues – after all, family is our first place of learning – and this led me back into psychology and formal training. A well-known psychologist once wrote about the importance of playfulness as a sign of well-being, and this is something that feels meaningful. In my work I sometimes offer the chance to use other means of expression, drawing for example, if it seems appropriate – although of course this is not for everyone – and this can feel very liberating.
